Qualifications

  • Recent college graduate or senior, preferably in computer science, data science, engineering, or related field
  • Demonstrated interest in artificial intelligence, data science, or computational modeling
  • Interest in working with proprietary AI platforms and developing custom intelligence solutions for strategic advisory work

  • Interest in AI applications combining human expertise with machine intelligence for reputation, crisis management, policy advocacy, and stakeholder engagement

Responsibilities

  • Assist in building, training, and evaluating machine learning models using Python and libraries such as scikit-learn, TensorFlow, and PyTorch
  • Clean, organize, and analyze structured and unstructured datasets from social media, news, government databases, surveys, and client data
  • Train AI models on project-specific datasets including social media data and stakeholder communications
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including strategists, account teams, and creative professionals to integrate AI solutions into campaign strategies
  • Contribute to custom Intelligence & AI solutions such as decision support command centers integrating proprietary data lakes and dashboards
  • Support creation of AI-powered dashboards and tools for tracking project metrics
  • Document model performance, testing results, and technical workflows
  • Conduct research on emerging AI tools, techniques, and ethical considerations
  • Participate in brainstorming and strategic planning for AI applications in client projects and internal initiatives
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Available to work 40 hours per week

Full Description

Join APCO’s Intelligence & AI team as a full-time paid intern to build and deploy AI-powered solutions for advocacy and strategic campaigns.

Your Role

Key responsibilities include:

• Assist in building, training, and evaluating machine learning models using Python and libraries such as scikit-learn, TensorFlow, and PyTorch

• Clean, organize, and analyze structured and unstructured datasets fromsocial media, news, government databases, surveys, and client data

• Train AI models on project-specific datasets including social media data and stakeholder communications

About You

The company is looking for:

• Recent college graduate or senior, preferably in computer science, data science, engineering, or related field

• Some proficiency in Python and familiarity with machine learning frameworks; preferred experience with natural language processing libraries

• Demonstrated interest in artificial intelligence, data science, or computational modeling

• Interest in working with proprietary AI platforms and developing custom intelligence solutions for strategic advisory work

• Comfort working in a fast-paced environment with distributed teams and non-technical stakeholders

• Organized and detail-oriented

• Coursework or experience in statistics, survey methodology, social science research methods, or social media listening preferred

• Able to multi-task and work independently

• Interest in current events, political processes, corporate communications, and technology’s role in public discourse is a plus

• Interest in AI applications combining human expertise with machine intelligence for reputation, crisis management, policy advocacy, and stakeholder engagement

• Available to work 40 hours per week

• US Work Authorization required; candidates with OPT/Post-OPT status are not eligible
