Job description The Opportunity:

As our Principal Developer (AI Applications), you will lead the design and implementation of AI applications that facilitate battery design. This role emphasizes application architecture, prompt engineering, and tool integration over foundational model training, enabling faster iterations in areas like requirement engineering, pack optimization, simulation assistance and predicti...on.

Responsibilities:

• Design and develop AI applications to support battery pack design processes, such as automated report generation, design recommendation systems, query-based simulation interfaces, and workflow automation.

• Architect user-friendly AI tools that incorporate prompt engineering, chain-of-thought reasoning, and API integrations to handle tasks like generative design suggestions, thermal/performance predictions, and pack configuration optimization.

• Optimize AI applications for speed and accuracy in engineering contexts, reducing design cycles by leveraging LLM capabilities for natural language interfaces and decision support.

• Mentor and grow a small AI R&D team while collaborating with other members in the company.

• Facilitate seamless deployment of AI tools in production environments, focusing on reliability, user experience, and iterative improvements based on feedback.

• Explore and integrate open-source or commercial AI models to enhance tools for specific battery challenges (e.g., safety analysis, material selection, algorithm tuning).

Requirements:

• PhD / Master degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence or a related field; alternatively, equivalent industry experience.

• 3+ (PhD holder) / 5+ (Master degree holder) years in research & development or AI application engineering, with at least 2 years leading projects involving application development, AI or battery related fields.

• Strong proficiency in Python, with experience in AI frameworks and prompt design techniques.

• Hands-on experience designing AI applications that interface with engineering tools or physical systems; battery/energy domain knowledge is a strong advantage.

• Proven ability to design intuitive AI interfaces and workflows that bridge technical and non-technical users.

• Excellent problem-solving skills, with a focus on practical, impactful solutions using existing AI technologies.

• Passion for sustainable energy and applying AI to real-world hardware challenges.
