Technical Team Lead - AI Engineering

CLEARPRISE LLC

Lahore, Pakistan

Full-time

Location: Pakistan

Work Mode: Remote

Employment: Full-time

Schedule: 8 hours per day, Monday to Friday, aligned with US working hours

Joining: Immediate availability preferred

Compensation: Based on experience

About the Role

We are looking for a hands-on AI Engineering Manager who can lead engineers, make credible technical decisions, and deliver production-ready software and AI systems for international clients.

This is not a coordination-only management role.

You must be technically strong enough to inspect code, evaluate architecture, investigate failures, challenge weak solutions, and guide engineers toward reliable outcomes.

You should already use AI tools and agents extensively in your own work, not only for basic prompts or question answering.

We want someone who understands how to use AI coding tools, automated workflows, and agentic systems to increase productivity while critically validating the results.

You will lead a delivery pod, understand the client’s business and technical goals, establish a clear execution plan, improve the team’s delivery rhythm, and communicate progress, risks, and decisions clearly.

Success means the client wants to continue working with the team because of what you deliver and how effectively you lead.

Technical and AI Delivery

  • Lead the delivery of software, automation, and AI projects from discovery through production
  • Understand why each project exists and connect technical work to business outcomes
  • Inspect codebases, architectures, data flows, integrations, and deployment environments
  • Make credible technical decisions and challenge weak implementation choices
  • Investigate technical failures several levels deep and guide the team toward root-cause solutions
  • Review code, technical designs, testing approaches, and deployment plans
  • Ensure systems are reliable, secure, maintainable, and production-ready
  • Use AI tools and agents to improve your own output and the team’s delivery efficiency
  • Critically review AI-generated code, analysis, documentation, and recommendations
  • Identify opportunities to automate repetitive engineering and operational work

Project and Client Leadership

  • Gather context quickly across business goals, workflows, systems, data, and people
  • Ask strong questions when requirements or technical information are incomplete
  • Translate complex requirements into a clear visual delivery plan
  • Establish priorities, ownership, dependencies, milestones, and success criteria
  • Lead client kickoffs, technical discussions, delivery reviews, and risk conversations
  • Communicate progress, blockers, risks, and decisions clearly to US clients
  • Provide concise weekly delivery updates supported by evidence
  • Manage expectations honestly without hiding problems or overpromising
  • Build client trust through consistent delivery rather than sales pressure

Team Leadership

  • Lead a daily delivery rhythm across an engineering pod
  • Understand how each engineer works, where they are strongest, and where they need support
  • Identify workflow bottlenecks and remove obstacles affecting delivery
  • Raise the team’s pace through coaching, clarity, accountability, and ownership
  • Push for ambitious outcomes without creating unsustainable working practices
  • Give direct, constructive feedback and respond professionally to feedback yourself
  • Support demanding delivery periods while allowing the team to recover appropriately
  • Develop engineers who can eventually lead future projects or delivery pods
  • Create a working environment where people understand expectations and take ownership

Mandatory Requirements

  • Proven experience leading software or AI engineers
  • Demonstrated experience shipping software, automation, or AI systems into production
  • Strong hands-on technical ability with the confidence to inspect code and architecture
  • Ability to make credible decisions across engineering, integrations, data, infrastructure, and delivery
  • Practical experience using AI tools or agents to increase personal productivity
  • Ability to critically validate AI-generated outputs rather than accepting them blindly
  • Experience managing technical projects from discovery through production delivery
  • Strong understanding of software-development workflows, testing, deployment, and production support
  • Ability to gather context quickly and turn ambiguity into a concrete execution plan
  • Experience coaching engineers and improving team performance
  • Strong stakeholder-management and client-communication skills
  • Experience communicating with US or international clients
  • Professional spoken and written English
  • Ability to create concise technical documentation and visual delivery plans
  • Strong ownership, judgment, and problem-solving ability
  • Ability to work full-time during US-aligned working hours

Strongly Preferred

  • Experience leading engineering pods in a consulting, agency, or client-delivery environment
  • Experience delivering LLM applications, AI agents, workflow automations, or AI-enabled products
  • Familiarity with AI coding assistants and agentic development workflows
  • Experience with APIs, integrations, cloud infrastructure, data pipelines, or automation platforms
  • Experience managing multiple technical projects or engineering pods
  • Experience with architecture reviews, code reviews, production incidents, and root-cause analysis
  • Experience working in a fast-moving startup or high-growth environment
  • Ability to build reusable delivery systems, processes, and technical standards
  • Experience developing senior engineers or future engineering leaders

Ideal Candidate

You began as a strong individual contributor and learned that leading a team requires more than moving quickly yourself.

You know how to bring people with you, establish clarity, create accountability, and help engineers improve without micromanaging them.

You remain technically credible and comfortable going deep when something fails.

At the same time, you can step back, understand the client’s business problem, and communicate the plan clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

You use AI as a serious productivity system.

You understand its strengths and limitations, build repeatable workflows around it, and check its work critically.

You are ambitious about delivery, honest about risks, receptive to feedback, and capable of leading both the technical work and the people responsible for it.

During Your First Week

  • Understand the client’s business goals and why the project exists
  • Meet the engineers and assess team strengths, responsibilities, and bottlenecks
  • Inspect the codebase, architecture, workflows, data, and delivery environment
  • Identify immediate risks, dependencies, and unresolved questions
  • Create and present a clear visual delivery plan
  • Establish ownership, priorities, milestones, and communication expectations

Ongoing

  • Run a consistent daily delivery rhythm
  • Keep projects moving and remove blockers quickly
  • Maintain technical quality while increasing delivery speed
  • Make progress, risks, and decisions visible to the client each week
  • Improve how the team uses AI tools and automated workflows
  • Coach engineers toward greater ownership and leadership
  • Build enough client trust that continued work becomes the natural next step
