Solutions Architect – Investment Technology (Asia)

Location: Hong Kong | Hybrid 2-3 days on-site

Reports to: Head of Capability Architecture (London)

Compensation: Base HK $1.35 M p.a. + discretionary bonus + full benefits package.

Own technology architecture for Wealth Management platforms across Asia covering Architecture across Business, Change & Technology.

Act as the architecture voice in Hong Kong, shaping cloud, data and application patterns and ensuring regional change initiatives align to global standards while meeting local business needs.

Key responsibilities

Architecture leadership

• Define and maintain target-state application, data and integration architectures for the Investment Business in Asia.

• Run regional design reviews and represent Asia at the global Architecture Review Board.

Business engagement

• Partner with investment operations, distribution and risk teams to capture requirements, explain architectural choices and gain buy-in.

• Translate complex tech topics into clear business value statements.

Cloud & data patterns

• Champion best-practice use of Azure (primary), AWS/GCP where appropriate, and IaC.

• Design and govern data-platform patterns (streaming, lakehouse, API mesh) and promote data-quality controls.

Platform modernisation

• Guide migrations and integrations involving BlackRock Aladdin, Charles River IMS, State Street Alpha, SimCorp and adjacent systems; hands-on expertise welcome but not mandatory.

Regional stewardship

• Align architecture roadmaps with regulatory, latency and operational-resilience needs unique to HK/Asia time zones.

• Act as escalation point for solution architects and engineers in the region.

Required experience & skills

Technical architecture

• 8-12 years designing enterprise-scale systems; strong grasp of distributed architectures, micro-services, event streaming, API management, security by design.

Cloud

• Proven design work on Azure (preferred) or AWS/GCP; IaC (Terraform/Bicep) and DevSecOps pipelines.

Data patterns

• Experience with data-lake / lakehouse, real-time streaming, and governance frameworks.

Stakeholder engagement

• Confident, mature communicator able to influence heads of business and technology.

Regulatory awareness

• Familiar with HKMA/SFC or comparable regulators; ability to embed resiliency & data-privacy controls.

Education & certs

• Degree in Computer Science/Engineering; TOGAF or equivalent desirable.

Bonus assets

• Hands-on work with Aladdin, CRIMS/Charles River, State Street Alpha, SimCorp, Markit EDM; CFA or investment-operations exposure.
