Head of AI – Quantitative Hedge Fund

Job description

Location: Shanghai / New York / Hong Kong / Singapore

Compensation: High base + direct P&L linkage + real ownership

On behalf of a top-tier quantitative hedge fund we are seeking a head of Artificial Intelligence.

Important points to note:

• This role will preferably be based in Shanghai (full relocation package available).

However, we can consider the other listed locations if necessary.

• Can...didates must speak fluent Mandarin.

• The compensation package will match international norms for the industry.

• You must have direct AI/ML experience at top-tier prop trading firms and/or quantitative hedge fund(s).

Role:

Build from 0 → 1.

No fixed pipeline.

No legacy constraints.

You define:

• The AI stack

• Research workflow

• How models go live

End-to-End Ownership with Real P&L Impact:

• Take ideas from research → production → live trading.

• Be directly accountable for whether it makes money.

Work on Problems Where AI Actually Matters:

Focus on areas where ML can move the needle:

• Market microstructure

• Cross-asset signals

• Execution-aware modeling

Build a Small, High-Signal Team

Real Compute to Move Fast

• Access to ~1,000+ GPUs per researcher

• Designed for large-scale training and fast iteration.

• No need to fight for shared resources.

Requirements:

• 5+ years of experience in quantitative trading, preferably in HFT / MFT environments

• Direct AI/ML experience at top-tier prop trading firm(s).

• Fluent in Mandarin

• Master’s degree in computer science, Mathematics, Physics, or other relevant disciplines.

This will very likely be from a top-tier university.
