Position OverviewMetaFactor is hiring a Calgary based AI Developer to design, build, and operationalize advanced AI systems.
This role focuses on taking models from experimentation to production-ready, scalable solutions, with a strong emphasis on LLMs, deep learning, and GPU-optimized workloads.
The ideal candidate must have a Bachelors or Master’s degree in Instrumentation Engineering, Electr...ical Engineering, Process Control Engineering, Computer Science or Electrical Engineering or a related field and at least 2 years relevant experience in upstream Oil and Gas and or power industries.Key Responsibilities· Design, develop, and deploy AI/ML solutions across the full AI lifecycle· Build and maintain LLM-based applications, including local and hosted inference· Operationalize models (training, evaluation, deployment, monitoring, iteration)· Optimize inference and training pipelines for GPU-based systems· Integrate AI services into production systems using Python, Go, and C#· Work with tools and frameworks such as Ollama, PyTorch, TensorFlow, and related ecosystems· Implement scalable, reliable AI services with strong observability and performance· Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate requirements into technical solutionsRequired Qualifications· Strong professional experience with Python· Working experience with Go and C# in production systems· Deep understanding of the AI/ML lifecycle, including operationalization (MLOps)· Hands-on experience with Large Language Models (LLMs) and deep learning· Experience with GPU-based optimization (CUDA, inference acceleration, batching, memory management, etc.)· Familiarity with Ollama or similar local LLM runtime frameworks· Solid understanding of model deployment, scaling, and monitoring· Strong problem-solving and debugging skillsNice to Have· Experience with Databricks for large-scale data processing and ML workflows· Experience with Snowflake for analytics, data pipelines, or ML integration· Knowledge of vector databases, embeddings, and RAG architectures· Experience with model fine-tuning and evaluation· Background in performance tuning and systems-level optimization· Familiarity with containerized and cloud-based AI deployments· Experience building CI/CD pipelines for AI systems· Experience with popular LLM models including Llama, Gemma, Qwen, and othersPreference will be given to candidates with Upstream Oil & Gas and/or Power/Utility industry experience to join our team.
The ideal candidate would also have some experience with Azure streaming solutions, Microsoft Power Platform, and SQL/No-SQL database systems.
