Adjunct Lecturer for AI System Design (IT)

Division: Murdoch University Dubai

Reports to: The Dean & Discipline Lead

Employment Type: Adjunct / Part-Time Teaching Role

Overview of the Role

We are seeking a highly qualified and passionate academic professional to teach ICT304 – AI System Design within the Information Technology discipline.

The successful candidate will contribute to the delivery of an engaging and industry-relevant learning experience that bridges academic theory with real-world applications in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML).

This role requires a dynamic educator who can inspire students, foster critical thinking, and guide them through the principles, design, and deployment of AI systems while emphasizing ethical and responsible AI practices.

Required Teaching Experience

• Proven experience teaching AI (beyond just Machine Learning).

• Teaching experience in system engineering, programming, computer science, and/or software engineering.

Required Industry Experience

• Demonstrated experience working on AI-related projects in the industry.

• Experience in project management, preferably within AI project environments.

Other Desirable Requirements

• Understanding of ethical issues and societal implications of AI.

• Experience in designing, deploying, and maintaining AI/ML systems.

Knowledge, Attributes, and Skills

• Strong understanding of Artificial Intelligence concepts and applications.

• Proficiency in Python and other relevant programming languages used in AI system design and deployment.

• Ability to connect academic content with real-world industry practices.

• Strong communication and mentoring skills to support student learning and development

Required Qualifications

Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (or a closely related field) with equivalent professional experience.

Desirable:

• PhD in Computer Science with a specialization in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML), plus relevant industry experience.

• Master’s degree in AI and ML with substantial industry experience.
