Our client is seeking a highly experienced and innovative Lead NLP Data Scientist to spearhead our natural language processing initiatives.

This is a fully remote role where you will lead a team of data scientists and engineers in developing cutting-edge AI solutions that understand, interpret, and generate human language.

You will be responsible for the end-to-end development lifecycle of NLP models, from data collection and preprocessing to model training, evaluation, and deployment.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong theoretical understanding of machine learning, deep learning, and specifically NLP techniques, combined with practical experience in applying these to real-world problems.

You will guide the team in leveraging state-of-the-art NLP models and libraries to extract insights, automate processes, and enhance user experiences.

Responsibilities:

Lead the design, development, and implementation of advanced Natural Language Processing (NLP) models and algorithms.

Manage and mentor a team of data scientists and NLP engineers, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.

Oversee the entire machine learning lifecycle, including data acquisition, cleaning, feature engineering, model training, validation, and deployment for NLP tasks.

Develop strategies for effective data sourcing, annotation, and augmentation for NLP projects.

Research and apply state-of-the-art NLP techniques, including deep learning models (e.g., Transformers, RNNs, LSTMs) and traditional ML algorithms.

Identify opportunities to leverage NLP for business impact, such as sentiment analysis, text summarization, chatbots, topic modeling, and information extraction.

Collaborate with product managers and stakeholders to define project requirements and translate business needs into technical solutions.

Evaluate model performance, identify areas for improvement, and implement optimization strategies.

Ensure the scalability, reliability, and maintainability of NLP solutions in production environments.

Stay abreast of the latest research and advancements in NLP and machine learning.

Communicate complex technical concepts and findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Qualifications:

Ph.D. or Master's degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Computational Linguistics, Data Science, or a related quantitative field.

Proven experience (5+ years) in Data Science with a specialization in NLP.

Demonstrated experience in leading data science or NLP teams. Expertise in programming languages like Python and relevant libraries (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, Keras, scikit-learn, NLTK, SpaCy).

Deep understanding of various NLP techniques, including text classification, sequence labeling, question answering, and generation.

Experience with large language models (LLMs) and transformer architectures.

Proficiency in data manipulation and analysis using SQL, Pandas, and other tools.

Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and MLOps practices.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.

Excellent communication, presentation, and leadership abilities.
