What Does the Internship Program Offer?

Pearson’s Evaluation Systems group is seeking an AI Scientist Intern to support its human and automated scoring work during a 8-week summer internship.

This role provides an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in large-scale operational scoring while contributing to important projects that impact educational assessments.

Our interns will work either with our human scoring platforms, or AI scoring platforms, or in building or validating AI models.

Pay rate

$35.00 per hour.

You will be eligible for accrued paid sick time per the policy guidelines.

Job Description

As an AI Scientist Intern, you will have the chance to join our dynamic Scoring and Insights team for the summer.

This internship offers a valuable opportunity to immerse yourself in research, AI, software development, and data analysis, all while contributing to critical projects focused on educational assessment.

What does the 8-weeks involve?

During the 8-week internship, you will have the opportunity to support one of the following: production software development in our hand-scoring platform (OSCAR), production software development for our automated scoring platforms, design and analysis of key hand-scoring activities (e.g., AI generation of range finding samples), or design, modeling, and analysis of AI initiatives around automated scoring such as gaming detection or training mechanisms.

This position is fully remote, with occasional travel to company offices or partner locations as necessary.

The role is primarily designated as a Remote Employee.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications

• Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Educational Measurement, Psychometrics, Statistics, Computational Linguistics, Machine Learning/AI, or Computer Science.

• Strong analytical and research skills with attention to detail.

• Proficiency in Python

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively within a team.
