AI & Automation Data Scientist Intern to develop and deploy machine learning solutions in a fast-paced consulting environment at IBM.

Your Role

Key responsibilities include:

• Collaborate with Partners, Product Managers, Data Scientists, Architects, and Software Engineers to conceptualize, develop, and deploy machine learning solutions for enterprise-scale problems.

• Work on innovative projectsusing industry-leading data science technologies on cloud platforms such as IBM Cloud or Azure.

• Apply data science to solve real-world business problems and generate value for external client engagements or internal initiatives.

• Communicate ideas effectively to peers and managers and work independently as well as in cross-functional teams.

About You

What you'll need:

• Enrollment in full-time post-secondary studies with a return to full-time studies after the 4-month internship starting January 2026.

• Residency in Toronto or Calgary, Canada, with eligibility to work full-time for 4 months without sponsorship.

• Demonstrated familiarity or interest in machine learning, statistical analysis, or data mining through internships, academic projects, hackathons, or publications.

• Experience with scripting languages, preferably Python, and a strong computer science foundation.

• Hands-on experience with GenAI/Agentic AI frameworks (e.g., Langchain, Semantic Kernel, LangGraph, AutoGen) and LLM concepts (prompt-engineering, RAG).

• Effective communication skills and ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

• Preferred: Minimum one work term in a data science or machine learning role.

• Preferred: Experience with Python machine learning/data science libraries (scikit-learn, SciPy, pandas, TensorFlow).

• Preferred: Familiarity with databases and data-engineering tools (SQL, Spark) and cloud platforms (IBM Cloud, Azure, AWS).

• For Quebec positions, fluency in French is required.

• Applicants from US sanctioned countries on work permits are not eligible due to export regulations.
