Qualifications

• PhD in ML, AI, Computational Biology, or related field, or equivalent experience in postdoctoral or industry roles
• Experience in building modern AI architectures, especially transformers and multimodal models
• Proficiency in Python and common ML frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow, JAX)
• Comfortable in fast-moving, high-autonomy start-up environments
• Based in or willing to relocate to the Philadelphia area
• Affiliation with leading research institutions (e.g., Dana-Farber, Broad, MSKCC, Mount Sinai, Penn etc.)
• Publications or open-source contributions in machine learning or computational biology

Head of AI - Biotech

iO are delighted to be partnered with this growing stealth-mode biotechnology start-up on the appointment of a Head of AI

This is a hands-on leadership role that is well suited to an AI expert that truly wants to make a difference.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with the technical founders to drive model development from concept to deployment.

• Build and lead a small, high-performance AI team.

• Contribute directly to all phases: model architecture, experimentation, infrastructure, and evaluation.

• Shape the company's long-term AI roadmap.

Background

• Healthcare or biomedical data is preferred but not required.

• Proficiency in Python and common ML frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow, JAX).

• Based in or willing to relocate to the Philadelphia area.
