9N Technologies is developing next-generation graphene-based semiconductor and memory devices, integrating 2D materials and ferroelectrics to enable ultra-fast, energy-efficient logic-memory architectures.

Our goal is to create a new class of transistor technology capable of powering the future of computing, AI hardware, and advanced electronics.

As we enter this critical build-and-test phase, we are collaborating with a leading UK university to develop and characterise our first working devices.

To support this, we are hiring a Chief Scientific Officer who can guide the scientific direction of the company and play a pivotal role in delivering our first-generation prototypes.

This is an equity-only role at this stage.

A salary will be introduced once investment is secured.

What You Will Lead

• Shape and lead the scientific strategy behind our graphene transistor and memory technologies.

• Work closely with university partners to coordinate prototype development, testing, analysis, and iteration.

• Oversee early-stage research, design verification, experimental planning, and device characterisation.

• Contribute to the technical aspects of grant-funded work and future fundraising activities.

• Maintain and develop technical documentation, scientific reports, and experimental records.

• Support the intellectual property strategy and help strengthen the technical foundation of future patents.

• Translate complex scientific concepts into clear, concise narratives for founders, partners, and investors.

• Represent 9N Technologies in scientific, technical, and external meetings.

What You Bring

• PhD in Materials Science, Nanotechnology, Semiconductor Physics, Electronic Engineering, Graphene/2D Materials, or a related discipline.

• Strong experience in semiconductor devices, nanofabrication, graphene/2D materials, advanced materials, or ferroelectrics.

• A proven track record of taking research concepts from design through to experimental validation.

• Experience collaborating with universities, research labs, or scientific institutions.

• Familiarity with device characterisation tools, materials analysis, and hands-on lab experimentation.

• Strong technical writing skills and experience contributing to patent/IP development.

• Someone who enjoys building, testing, experimenting — pushing boundaries in real time.

• A passion for deep tech, semiconductor innovation, and shaping the future of advanced computing.
