Job Purpose:

We are seeking a highly motivated and academically accomplished PhD holder with expertise in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Data Science to join our dynamic academic team.

The successful candidate will contribute to the delivery of high-quality teaching and curriculum development across core postgraduate and/or undergraduate modules, including Artificial Intelligence, Data Science,Machine Learning and Neural Networks, and Natural Language Processing (NLP).

This role offers the opportunity to shape the next generation of AI and data professionals while engaging in scholarly activity and industry-relevant innovation.

Duties:

• Deliver engaging and rigorous lectures, seminars, labs, and tutorials in the following areas:

• Artificial Intelligence (search algorithms, knowledge representation, reasoning, AI ethics)

• Data Science (data wrangling, visualization, statistical modeling, big data technologies)

• Machine Learning and Neural Networks (supervised/unsupervised learning, deep learning architectures, model evaluation)

• Natural Language Processing (text preprocessing, language models, transformers, applications in sentiment analysis, machine translation, etc.)

• Develop and update module content to reflect current advances in AI, data science, and industry best practices.

• Supervise student projects and dissertations at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

• Contribute to assessment design, marking, and academic feedback in alignment with institutional quality assurance frameworks (e.g., UK QAA standards where applicable).

• Participate in course leadership, programme review, and accreditation activities.

• Engage in scholarly activity, including research, publication, and potential collaboration with industry or academic partners.

• Support student employability through links with industry, guest lectures, and real-world case studies.

Essential Qualifications and Skills:

• PhD in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, or a closely related field (awarded or near completion).

• Demonstrable teaching experience (or strong potential for teaching excellence) in at least three of the four core subject areas: AI, Data Science, Machine Learning/Neural Networks, and NLP.

• Strong programming skills in Python and experience with relevant libraries/frameworks (e.g., scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, spaCy, Hugging Face).

• Understanding of ethical, societal, and practical implications of AI and data technologies.

• Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.

• Commitment to inclusive and student-centred pedagogy.

Desirable Qualifications and Skills:

• Experience with online or blended learning delivery (e.g., via LMS platforms).

• Industry experience in AI, data science, or related sectors.

• Record of peer-reviewed publications or active research agenda in AI/ML/NLP.

• Experience supervising PhD or master’s students.

• Familiarity with professional accreditation standards (e.g., BCS, IEEE) or national quality frameworks.
