Senior Power BI Report Engineer (Azure / Databricks)

📍 Glasgow Head Office

🧠 Reports to: Head of IT

My client is rebuilding their reporting platform around a governed Azure + Databricks Lakehouse — and they need a Power BI engineer to own the enterprise BI layer.

This is not a standard reporting role. You will build version-controlled semantic models and high-performance datasets that powerdecision-making across Operations, Finance, Logistics, Sales and Customer Care.

What you’ll be doing

Enterprise Semantic Modelling

• Build PBIP datasets fully version-controlled in Git

• Model using Tabular Editor 3 (DAX, calculation groups, governance)

• Manage CI/CD and PR workflows via Azure DevOps

Lakehouse-Aligned BI

• Build only from Gold curated Databricks tables

• Partner with Data Engineering on contract-first schemas

• Validate, profile and optimise data using Databricks SQL

Performance & Governance

• Design high-performance models (aggregations, incremental refresh, hybrid DQ/Import)

• Implement RLS / OLS, certifications, endorsements and metadata standards

• Monitor and tune models in Power BI PPU capacity

Adoption & UX

• Build clean, intuitive dashboards with strong UX standards

• Create reusable, certified enterprise datasets

• Support BI adoption through training and documentation

Joining the Data Science & AI Solutions team in HR, you will own the end-to-end execution and operationalization of the People & AI Governance “front door” for People AI solutions. You will establish the guidelines, templates, and standardized workflows that ensure consistent, scalable onboarding of People AI use cases. In this role, you will be accountab...le for building and running a repeatable intake-to-approval workflow, standardizing evidence requirements and risk assessments, and maintaining practical guidance that helps teams move efficiently while meeting risk, compliance, and employee trust expectations.

What will you do?

• Manage the centralized intake process end-to-end, ensuring all People AI use cases are captured consistently, assessed early for risk tiering, and routed to the appropriate governance path.

• Maintain and optimize intake artifacts, including intake forms, triage criteria, risk-tiering rubrics, backlog sequencing, and reporting.

• Develop and continuously improve a risk assessment playbook and checklist to standardize evidence requirements across privacy, legal, fairness, model risk, security, and operational controls.

• Coordinate across cross-functional stakeholders to ensure the review workflow is practical, repeatable, and “audit-ready” for priority use cases, vendor solutions, and internal builds.

Must Have
