LightWork AI is a Service as a Software (SaS) company that automates property management workflows (compliance, maintenance, lettings and tenant support) through Felicity, an AI assistant that can handle up to 80% of admin tasks autonomously.

Designed for the UK’s regulation-driven market, LightWork AI delivers enhanced capacity, reduced admin costs and zero missed communications for property management & lettings agencies, while giving tenants the confidence that their homes are safe, compliant and their needs are always met.

The Role

We’re looking for an ambitious and hands-on VP of Engineering to join our growing team.

This role is ideal for a technical leader who enjoys building products, managing talented engineers, and shaping the future of a fast-scaling AI start-up.

The ideal candidate is passionate about AI-driven innovation, large-scale system design, and building high-performing teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the technical development of our AI-powered property management solutions.

• Write, review, and optimise code - staying close to the engineering process.

• Manage a team of AI engineers.

• Define and maintain technical architecture and best practices.

• Collaborate with product and design teams to deliver high-impact features quickly.

• Drive innovation in automation, AI integration, and scalability.

• Ensure product reliability, security, and performance at all times.

• Contribute to strategic planning and technology roadmap discussions.

Requirements

• A First-Class or strong academic degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field from one of the following universities: Cambridge, Oxford, Imperial, UCL, Stanford, MIT.

• Hands-on AI product delivery (LLM/RAG/multi-agent experience) and actively committing to code.

• 5+ years proven experience in software engineering, ideally within AI, SaaS, or automation platforms.

• Exceptional technical background (e.g., Python, AI/ML integration, Node.js, cloud infrastructure).

• Previous experience in a lead or management role within a start-up or tech-driven company.

• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

• Keen to take ownership.
