Contractor

Full Description

Location: Vancouver, BC (Hybrid – 4 days onsite per week)

Contract: 6 months, with extension & potential Full-Time conversion

Compensation: $50 CAD / hour

About the Role

We are seeking a Technical Business Analyst with a strong background in Azure infrastructure, cloud monitoring, and enterprise reporting.

You will work closely with engineering teams and business stakeholders to translate technical requirements into clear, actionable business deliverables — including wireframes, BRDs, dashboards, and performance visualizations in Datadog and Power BI.

This role sits at the intersection of technology and operations, helping a top global retail organization improve visibility, reliability, and governance of its cloud and on-prem environments.

Key Responsibilities

Business & Stakeholder Collaboration

• Partner with engineering, infrastructure, and business teams to gather, document, and translate requirements into technical and visual artifacts.

• Develop Business Requirement Documents (BRDs) and Functional Specifications that bridge business intent with technical execution.

• Drive conversations between platform owners (DNS, Active Directory, Cloud, Monitoring) and senior stakeholders.

Technical & Analytical Delivery

• Design wireframes and dashboard prototypes for operational and security visibility.

• Build and maintain infrastructure analytics dashboards in Datadog, Power BI, or similar tools.

• Support log analysis, incident metrics, and resiliency reporting using Azure native tools (Monitor, Sentinel, Defender).

• Ensure KPIs and metrics are aligned to enterprise objectives for protection, visibility, and governance.

Process & Documentation

• Maintain and version BRDs, data dictionaries, and change logs.

• Identify and document dependencies between Azure components (IaaS, Entra, DNS, Active Directory, etc.).

• Work with engineers to standardize telemetry collection and reporting cadence.

• Support governance initiatives by maintaining risk and compliance tracking dashboards.

Required Skills & Experience

• 3–5 years of experience as a Technical or Infrastructure Business Analyst.

• Hands-on background in Azure infrastructure, monitoring, or cloud operations.

• Strong experience building reports and dashboards in Power BI and Datadog (or similar visualization tools).

• Proven ability to create wireframes, process maps, and executive dashboards.

• Familiarity with Azure Monitor, Sentinel, and Log Analytics for telemetry integration.

• Excellent documentation skills — BRDs, FRDs, data flow diagrams.

• Strong understanding of enterprise security, resiliency, and IT governance principles.

• Ability to interface comfortably with technical engineers and business leadership.

Nice to Have

• Experience in retail or consumer goods industry environments.

• Exposure to DevOps, automation pipelines, or infrastructure modernization projects.

• Working knowledge of ServiceNow, Jira, or project-tracking tools.

• Understanding of compliance frameworks (CIS, NIST, MITRE, ISO).

Soft Skills

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills — able to speak both business and technical language.

• Analytical mindset, detail-oriented, and process-driven.

• Self-motivated with ability to work independently and within cross-functional teams.

• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, hybrid environment.

Why Join

• Opportunity to work with a top-tier retail company driving modernization across its global infrastructure footprint.

• Exposure to enterprise-scale Azure environments and advanced monitoring stacks.

• Flexible hybrid model (4 days in Vancouver office, 1 remote).

• Clear path to Full-Time Employment after initial contract term.
