About the Role

Position Overview:

We are seeking a Junior Field Service Engineer with strong hands-on experienceworking with heavy machinery and a keen interest in IoT systems.

This is a hybrid role involving global field installation, system troubleshooting, and support for testing and development when not deployed.

Note: A valid Canadian passport and the ability to travel internationally without restrictions is a strict requirement.

Key Responsibilities

Field Deployment & Installation

• Perform installation, wiring, and commissioning rugged IoT devices on heavy-duty machines.

• Travel to client sites globally, including remote and harsh environments.

• Interface with equipment power systems, CAN bus (e.g., J1939), and sensors.

• Troubleshoot electrical, communication, and software-level issues in the field.

• Conduct tests and verify sensor data acquisition and cloud offload behavior.

• Train customer personnel on equipment usage and first-level maintenance.

Engineering & Testing Support

• Assist the in-house team with testing, debugging, and integration tasks.

• Build harnesses, solder connectors, and validate hardware prototypes.

• Work closely with engineering to replicate and report field issues.

• Support QA and hardware development workflows when not on site.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Canadian citizen with valid Canadian passport and ability to travel internationally.

• 2–4 years of hands-on experience with heavy-duty machinery (mining, construction, etc.).

• Good understanding of mechanical and electrical systems of mobile equipment.

• Proficient with soldering, harness building, and basic diagnostic tools (multimeter, CAN tools).

• Ability to interpret wiring diagrams and schematics.

• Comfortable with computers, basic networking, and embedded systems concepts.

• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.

• Able to work independently and adapt to field conditions.

• [Preferred] Familiarity with CAN protocols, MQTT, or IoT systems.

• [Preferred] Experience with Linux-based embedded systems or firmware tools.
