Head of AI Governance

Full Description

We are looking for a Head of AI Governance to lead and enforce AI governance frameworks, ensuring compliance, risk management, and ethical standards across enterprise AI initiatives.

Responsibilities:

• Define and maintain the enterprise AI governance framework, including policies, standards, and operating procedures.

• Align governance practices with global regulations (e.g., EU AI Act, local regulatory bodies) and internal compliance requirements.

• Develop guidelines for responsible AI, fairness, explainability, and bias mitigation.

• Implement model risk governance processes, including validation, monitoring, and periodic reviews.

• Ensure adherence to data privacy, security, and ethical AI principles throughout the AI lifecycle.

• Partner with Legal, Risk, and Compliance teams to manage regulatory audits and reporting.

• Establish approval workflows for AI models, including risk classification and sign-off processes.

• Define metrics and dashboards for monitoring AI performance, drift, and compliance status.

• Lead incident response for AI-related issues, including bias detection and remediation.

• Collaborate with business units, technology teams, and external regulators to ensure governance alignment.

• Drive AI literacy programs focused on governance, risk, and compliance for stakeholders.

• Represent the organization in industry forums and regulatory discussions on AI governance.

• Continuously update governance frameworks to reflect evolving regulations and technologies.

• Promote a culture of responsible AI through training, communication, and best practices.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Governance, Risk Management, or related field.

• 12+ years of experience in governance, risk, or compliance roles.

• At least 5 years of experience specifically in AI/ML governance or model risk management.

• Strong knowledge of the AI/ML lifecycle, model validation, and monitoring practices.

• Familiarity with regulatory frameworks such as the EU AI Act and ISO AI standards.

• Deep understanding of ethical AI principles including fairness, explainability, and bias mitigation.

• Experience with governance tools, model registries, and compliance reporting systems.

• Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and manage cross-functional teams.

• Strong leadership skills and experience driving organizational change.
