Full Description

Engineering Manager, AI & Robotics

Location: Remote

Salary: Up to $200,000 USD base + equity

Type: Full-time

Overview

This is a high-impact Engineering Manager role within a fast-growing AI and robotics organisation building intelligent, real-world systems.

You will lead a multidisciplinary engineering team working across software, machine learning, and robotics platforms, taking products from research to reliable deployment.

The role suits a technically credible manager who enjoys operating close to the work, setting direction, removing blockers, and growing engineers in a complex, high-autonomy environment.

What you’ll do

• Lead and develop a team of engineers spanning backend, ML, and robotics disciplines.

• Own delivery for critical product areas, balancing speed, quality, and long-term technical health.

• Partner with product, research, and hardware teams to translate ideas into production systems.

• Set engineering standards around architecture, testing, reliability, and observability.

• Drive hiring, onboarding, and performance management as the team scales.

• Act as a technical sounding board, reviewing designs and contributing where it adds value.

What we’re looking for

• Experience managing engineers working on complex technical systems, ideally AI-driven products.

• Strong background in software engineering, with hands-on experience earlier in your career.

• Comfortable leading teams that work with machine learning models, data pipelines, and real-time systems.

• Experience operating in ambiguous environments where requirements evolve quickly.

• Clear communicator who can align technical decisions with business outcomes.

Nice to have

• Exposure to robotics, autonomous systems, or hardware-software integration.

• Experience scaling teams in high-growth or deep-tech environments.

• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, distributed systems, or edge computing.

Why this role

• Work on systems that interact with the real world, not just screens.

• High trust, high autonomy engineering culture.

• Competitive compensation up to $200k USD plus meaningful equity.

• Remote-friendly setup with periodic team meet-ups.
