Our client is seeking a highly knowledgeable and forward-thinking AI Ethics and Governance Specialist to join their innovative team in Benin City, Edo, NG .
This crucial role will focus on establishing and maintaining ethical frameworks, policies, and best practices for the development and deployment of artificial intelligence technologies within the organization.
You will be instrumental in ensuring that our AI initiatives are responsible, fair, transparent, and aligned with societal values and regulatory requirements.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of AI principles, machine learning, and the potential ethical challenges associated with these technologies, such as bias, privacy, accountability, and fairness.
Your responsibilities will include conducting ethical risk assessments, developing governance structures, and creating guidelines for AI development teams.
You will collaborate closely with data scientists, engineers, legal counsel, and business stakeholders to embed ethical considerations throughout the AI lifecycle.
This position requires excellent analytical skills, the ability to interpret complex ethical and legal concepts, and strong communication skills to articulate policies and best practices to diverse audiences.

Responsibilities:
Develop and implement AI ethics policies, guidelines, and governance frameworks.
Conduct ethical impact assessments for AI projects and systems.
Identify and mitigate potential risks related to AI bias, fairness, transparency, and accountability.
Collaborate with AI development teams to ensure ethical considerations are integrated into the design and deployment process.
Stay current with global AI ethics regulations, standards, and best practices.
Provide training and awareness programs on AI ethics and responsible AI development.
Advise stakeholders on ethical implications of AI technologies and strategies.
Facilitate discussions and workshops on AI ethics topics.
Contribute to the development of tools and methodologies for evaluating AI systems' ethical performance. Work with legal and compliance teams to ensure adherence to relevant laws and regulations.
Qualifications:
Master's degree or PhD in Ethics, Philosophy, Law, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field with a focus on AI ethics.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in AI ethics, responsible AI, technology policy, or a related field.
Strong understanding of AI/ML principles and their societal implications.
Knowledge of ethical frameworks, risk assessment methodologies, and governance principles.
Excellent analytical, research, and critical thinking skills.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly.
Experience working with technical teams and cross-functional stakeholders. Familiarity with data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, NDPR).
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
