Our client, a pioneering technology firm at the forefront of Artificial Intelligence, is seeking a dedicated AI Ethics & Governance Specialist.

This pivotal role will shape the responsible development and deployment of AI technologies, ensuring compliance with ethical standards and regulatory frameworks.

The position is based in Maiduguri, Borno, NG , offering a hybrid work arrangement that balances essential in-office collaboration with remote flexibility.

You will be instrumental in developing and implementing AI governance policies, conducting ethical impact assessments, and advising product teams on best practices.

The ideal candidate possesses a strong understanding of AI/ML technologies, ethical principles, legal considerations, and risk management.

This role requires a meticulous, forward-thinking individual who can navigate complex ethical dilemmas and translate them into actionable guidelines.

Key Responsibilities: Develop, implement, and maintain AI ethics policies, principles, and best practices.

Conduct thorough ethical impact assessments for new and existing AI systems and features.

Advise engineering, product, and research teams on ethical considerations and risk mitigation strategies related to AI.

Monitor regulatory landscapes globally and ensure compliance with relevant AI governance laws and standards.

Collaborate with legal, policy, and engineering teams to address ethical challenges and ensure responsible AI development.

Develop training materials and conduct workshops to educate employees on AI ethics and responsible innovation.

Investigate and resolve ethical concerns or complaints related to AI systems.

Contribute to the development of internal tools and frameworks for AI governance and accountability.

Stay abreast of emerging trends, research, and debates in AI ethics and responsible technology. Facilitate cross-functional discussions on sensitive AI-related ethical topics.

Qualifications: Master's degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Philosophy, Law, Public Policy, or a related field with a focus on technology ethics. 3-5 years of experience in AI ethics, technology policy, legal compliance, or risk management related to AI.

Strong understanding of AI/ML concepts, capabilities, and limitations.

Knowledge of ethical frameworks, societal impacts of technology, and relevant regulations (e.g., GDPR, AI Act).

Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex ethical and technical issues clearly.

Experience in developing policies, guidelines, or governance frameworks.

Ability to work collaboratively across diverse teams and influence decision-making.

Proactive mindset and a passion for promoting responsible technology.
