Join a pioneering research team pushing the boundaries of Artificial Intelligence as an AI Research Scientist specializing in Natural Language Processing (NLP).

Based in Calabar, Cross River , this role offers a hybrid work arrangement, allowing for collaboration and focus.

You will be at the forefront of developing cutting-edge NLP models and algorithms that will power next-generation applications.

This position requires a deep theoretical understanding of machine learning, a strong practical experience in NLP techniques, and a passion for innovation.

You will contribute to academic publications, develop novel solutions for complex problems, and work with large-scale datasets.

Responsibilities: Conduct fundamental and applied research in Natural Language Processing, including areas such as text generation, sentiment analysis, machine translation, information extraction, and question answering. Design, implement, and evaluate novel NLP models and algorithms using deep learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch).

Process, clean, and analyze large volumes of text data from diverse sources.

Collaborate with engineers to integrate research prototypes into production systems.

Stay abreast of the latest advancements in AI, machine learning, and NLP through literature review and conference attendance.

Publish research findings in top-tier academic conferences and journals.

Develop and maintain robust research codebases and documentation.

Mentor junior researchers and contribute to the team's intellectual growth.

Present research ideas and results to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Contribute to grant proposals and seek opportunities for external funding.

Explore new research directions and identify potential applications for NLP technologies.

Ensure ethical considerations and responsible AI development practices are integrated into research.

Qualifications: Ph.D. or Master's degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Computational Linguistics, or a related field with a strong focus on NLP.

Demonstrated research experience in NLP, evidenced by publications in reputable venues.

Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, and experience with NLP libraries (e.g., spaCy, NLTK, Hugging Face Transformers). Solid understanding of machine learning principles, statistical modeling, and deep learning architectures (e.g., RNNs, LSTMs, Transformers). Experience working with large datasets and distributed computing frameworks (e.g., Spark) is a plus.

Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.

Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts clearly.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic research environment.

Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) for machine learning is desirable.
