Our client, a pioneering technology firm at the forefront of AI development, is seeking a visionary Lead AI Ethicist to join their entirely remote team.
This role is crucial in guiding the responsible and ethical development and deployment of artificial intelligence technologies.
The Lead AI Ethicist will be responsible for establishing ethical frameworks, conducting impact assessments, and advising development teams on best practices to ensure fairness, transparency, and accountability in AI systems. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of AI technologies, ethical theories, and regulatory landscapes, coupled with exceptional analytical and communication skills.
Responsibilities:
Develop, implement, and oversee comprehensive AI ethics guidelines, policies, and frameworks across the organization.
Conduct ethical risk assessments and impact analyses for new and existing AI products and features.
Advise AI development teams, product managers, and leadership on ethical considerations throughout the AI lifecycle.
Research and stay current on emerging ethical challenges, regulatory developments, and best practices in AI and machine learning.
Collaborate with legal, compliance, and engineering teams to integrate ethical principles into AI development processes.
Develop training materials and conduct workshops to educate employees on AI ethics and responsible innovation.
Engage with external stakeholders, including academics, policymakers, and industry groups, to contribute to the broader discourse on AI ethics.
Investigate and address any reported ethical concerns or potential biases in AI systems.
Promote a culture of ethical awareness and responsible AI development within the company.
Contribute to the development of AI governance structures and accountability mechanisms.
Communicate complex ethical concepts clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Qualifications:
Advanced degree (Master's or PhD) in Philosophy, Ethics, Law, Computer Science with an ethical focus, Sociology, or a related field.
Minimum of 7 years of experience in AI ethics, responsible technology, digital ethics, or a closely related field.
Deep understanding of AI/ML concepts, algorithms, and their societal implications.
Proven experience in developing and implementing ethical frameworks, policies, and governance structures.
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to identify and evaluate complex ethical dilemmas.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage diverse audiences.
Experience conducting ethical impact assessments and risk analyses. Familiarity with relevant AI regulations and legal frameworks (e.g., GDPR, AI Act).
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote team environment.
Strong project management and organizational skills.
Demonstrated passion for promoting responsible technology and ethical innovation.
