Our client is at the forefront of innovation in AI and Emerging Technologies, and they are seeking a Lead AI Ethicist & Governance Specialist to shape responsible AI development and deployment.

This critical hybrid role will involve defining and implementing ethical frameworks, governance policies, and compliance strategies for AI systems, ensuring they are fair, transparent, and accountable.

Youwill work closely with R&D, product, legal, and policy teams to embed ethical considerations throughout the AI lifecycle. This position offers a blend of remote work flexibility and required in-office presence for key collaborative sessions at our advanced research facility in Owerri, Imo, NG .

Responsibilities:

Develop, implement, and oversee comprehensive AI ethics policies, guidelines, and best practices.

Establish robust AI governance frameworks to ensure compliance with relevant regulations, industry standards, and ethical principles.

Conduct ethical risk assessments and impact analyses for new and existing AI systems and applications.

Collaborate with data scientists, engineers, and product managers to embed ethical considerations into AI model design, development, and testing.

Advise on issues related to AI bias, fairness, transparency, explainability, and accountability.

Develop training materials and conduct workshops to raise awareness and build capacity on AI ethics and governance across the organization.

Engage with external stakeholders, including regulators, academics, and industry consortia, on AI ethics and policy matters.

Monitor emerging trends and developments in AI ethics, law, and policy, and proactively adapt organizational strategies.

Contribute to the development of responsible AI standards and participate in relevant industry working groups.

Provide expert guidance on privacy-preserving techniques and data governance for AI applications.

Manage and lead a team of AI ethics and governance professionals.

Qualifications:

Advanced degree (Master's or PhD) in Ethics, Philosophy, Law, Computer Science, Public Policy, or a related field, with a specialization in AI ethics or governance.

Minimum of 6 years of experience in AI ethics, responsible AI, technology governance, or a closely related field, with a proven track record of developing and implementing practical frameworks.

Deep understanding of AI technologies, machine learning concepts, and their societal implications. Knowledge of relevant legal and regulatory landscapes pertaining to AI and data privacy (e.g., GDPR, proposed AI regulations).

Exceptional analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

Excellent communication, influencing, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate complex technical and ethical concepts for diverse audiences.

Demonstrated ability to lead projects and influence cross-functional teams.

Experience working in a hybrid or agile work environment is beneficial.

Familiarity with risk management frameworks and compliance processes.
