Our client, a forward-thinking organization at the forefront of AI development, is seeking a highly qualified Lead AI Ethics & Governance Specialist to join their team in Umuahia, Abia, NG.

This critical role will shape and oversee the ethical deployment of artificial intelligence technologies, ensuring compliance with regulatory frameworks and company principles.

The ideal candidate will possess a unique blend of technical understanding, legal/policy expertise, and strong ethical reasoning.

This hybrid position requires collaboration across engineering, legal, and policy teams.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop, implement, and enforce comprehensive AI ethics policies and governance frameworks.

Conduct ethical risk assessments for AI systems and provide recommendations for mitigation.

Stay abreast of evolving AI regulations, standards, and best practices globally and domestically.

Advise product development teams on ethical considerations throughout the AI lifecycle.

Lead cross-functional working groups to address complex ethical challenges in AI.

Develop training materials and conduct workshops on AI ethics for various stakeholders.

Engage with external bodies, policymakers, and research institutions on AI governance matters.

Ensure transparency, fairness, and accountability in AI systems.

Monitor and audit AI systems for compliance with ethical guidelines and regulatory requirements. Contribute to the company's reputation as a responsible leader in AI innovation.

Qualifications:

Advanced degree (Master's or Ph.D.) in Law, Policy, Philosophy, Computer Science, or a related field with a focus on AI ethics or governance.

Minimum of 6 years of experience in AI ethics, technology policy, corporate governance, or a related field.

Demonstrated understanding of AI technologies, machine learning concepts, and their societal implications. In-depth knowledge of relevant legal and regulatory frameworks (e.g., GDPR, proposed AI acts).

Excellent analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.

Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences.

Experience in developing policies and conducting risk assessments.

Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, interdisciplinary environment.

A strong commitment to ethical principles and responsible technology development.
