Our client, a pioneering firm at the intersection of AI and social impact, is seeking a highly experienced Principal AI Ethicist to join their team in Onitsha, Anambra, NG.

This critical leadership role will shape the responsible development and deployment of artificial intelligence technologies, ensuring they align with ethical principles, societal values, and regulatory frameworks.

The Principal AI Ethicist will be responsible for developing and implementing AI ethics policies, guidelines, and best practices across the organization.

You will lead research into emerging ethical challenges in AI, such as bias, fairness, transparency, accountability, and privacy, and translate these insights into actionable strategies.

This position requires a deep understanding of AI/ML technologies, combined with a strong background in ethics, philosophy, law, or social sciences.

You will collaborate closely with AI researchers, engineers, product managers, and legal counsel to embed ethical considerations throughout the AI lifecycle, from design and development to deployment and monitoring.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of advising organizations on complex AI ethics issues and a demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.

You will lead cross-functional working groups, conduct ethical risk assessments, and develop training programs for employees.

Strong communication and advocacy skills are essential to articulate complex ethical concepts clearly and to champion responsible AI innovation.

Key Responsibilities: Develop and implement comprehensive AI ethics frameworks and policies.

Conduct ethical risk assessments for AI systems and applications.

Research and advise on emerging ethical challenges in AI, including bias, fairness, and transparency.

Collaborate with AI development teams to integrate ethical considerations into the AI lifecycle.

Develop and deliver AI ethics training programs for employees.

Advise on compliance with relevant ethical guidelines and regulations.

Lead and facilitate discussions on AI ethics with internal and external stakeholders.

Stay abreast of global developments in AI ethics research and policy.

Promote a culture of responsible AI development and deployment. Contribute to the company's thought leadership in AI ethics.

Qualifications: Ph.D. or Master's degree in Ethics, Philosophy, Law, Computer Science, Public Policy, or a related field with a strong focus on AI ethics.

Minimum of 7 years of experience in AI ethics, responsible AI, or technology policy, with experience advising on AI systems.

Deep understanding of AI/ML concepts and their ethical implications.

Proven experience in developing and implementing ethics policies and frameworks.

Excellent analytical, research, and critical thinking skills.

Exceptional communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.

Ability to translate complex ethical and technical concepts for diverse audiences.

Experience working with cross-functional teams in a technology-driven environment.

Familiarity with relevant legal and regulatory landscapes concerning AI. Strong commitment to promoting responsible technology innovation.
