Our client, a leading research and development firm pushing the boundaries of artificial intelligence, is seeking a highly qualified Senior AI Ethics and Governance Specialist to join their fully remote team.
This critical role will focus on establishing and implementing robust ethical frameworks and governance policies for AI development and deployment.
The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of AI technologies, ethical principles, regulatory landscapes, and societal impacts.
You will play a key part in ensuring our client's AI innovations are developed and used responsibly, fairly, and transparently, building trust with users and stakeholders globally.
This role requires a strategic thinker with a passion for shaping the future of AI in a responsible manner.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop, refine, and implement comprehensive AI ethics principles, guidelines, and governance frameworks for the organization.
Conduct ethical risk assessments for new AI models, systems, and applications, identifying potential biases, fairness issues, and unintended consequences.
Advise product development and engineering teams on best practices for building fair, accountable, and transparent AI systems.
Monitor regulatory developments and industry standards related to AI ethics and governance globally, ensuring organizational compliance.
Develop training programs and educational materials to foster a culture of ethical AI development across the company.
Collaborate with legal, policy, and research teams to address complex ethical challenges and shape organizational strategy.
Engage with external stakeholders, including academics, policymakers, and community groups, to foster dialogue and build consensus on AI ethics.
Oversee the implementation of mechanisms for accountability and redress related to AI systems.
Contribute to public discourse and thought leadership on AI ethics through publications, presentations, and participation in industry forums.
Stay at the forefront of emerging research and best practices in AI safety, fairness, accountability, and transparency (FAccT).
Qualifications:
Advanced degree (Master's or PhD) in a relevant field such as Ethics, Philosophy, Law, Computer Science, Public Policy, Sociology, or a related discipline with a strong focus on AI.
A minimum of 7 years of experience working on AI ethics, governance, policy, or responsible AI development.
Deep understanding of AI concepts, machine learning algorithms, and their societal implications. Familiarity with relevant legal and regulatory frameworks governing AI (e.g., GDPR, AI Act).
Proven ability to develop and implement practical ethical frameworks and governance structures.
Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and lead initiatives in a fully remote, collaborative environment.
Experience in developing training materials and conducting workshops.
