Job: Machine Learning and AI Research Engineer (U of T)

Desired Disciplines: Masters or PhD in Engineering - computer / electrical, Computer Science, and related fields

Company: Smart CashBackTV Inc. (through MITACS support at the University of Toronto)

Project Length: Flexible: 4 months full-time with potential to extend

Preferred start date: May 12th, 2025 (Flexible)

Location: Toronto

Qualifications/Skills:

• Strong background in machine learning, deep learning, and statistical modelling

• Proven experience designing and training custom ML models from scratch

• Proficient in Python and ML libraries (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch)

• Experience with model evaluation, optimization, and deployment pipelines

• Ability to read and implement state-of-the-art research papers

• Ability to understand and scrutinize existing edge software while prototyping new techniques

• Ability to adjust to new tools, techniques, projects, technologies etc. and become independently productive.

The company is focusing on revolutionizing the TV commercial industry by creating an AI-powered system for integrating targeted advertisements within real-time TV streams to empower local small and medium-sized businesses to advertise to prospective local customers.

Project Description:

This position would focus on helping to develop custom machine learning models for our smart application designed to integrate targeted advertisements within real-time TV streams. The intern would work alongside our software development team in order to work together on app development and implementation.
